温州市图书馆系国家地市级一级图书馆，诞生于“五四”运动风潮激荡之时1919年5月9日，前身为旧温属公立图书馆。现温州市图书馆馆舍位于市府路，于2005年11月对外开放，建筑面积32000平方米，藏书规模300万册，内设阅览座位2000个，网络节点近2000个，与科技馆、博物馆、大剧院连成一片环绕在市行政中心大楼周围，是温州市标志性建筑之一。 温州市图书馆坚持每天8:30—20:20开放（周五上午闭馆），日均接待读者达5000人次，开展借阅服务、信息参考服务、举办读者活动、收集整理温州地方文献，加强数字资源建设、分馆建设等服务，是一个集文化、教育、科研、休闲等功能于一体的大型现代化公共图书馆。 Department of the National Library of Wenzhou municipal level library, was born at the time of "54" movement surging wave of May 9, 1919, formerly known as the old warm genus Public Library.
